Resource not available in create assignments dialog

Problem

I want to create an assignment for a resource on a project, but the resource is not available in the dropdown of the 'create assignment' popup. How can I add the resource?

Solution

The JIRA project configuration is used to identify available resources for the selected project. If you add the group or user in your JIRA project configuration it will be visible in the popup.
